What did you do this past week?

This past week I spent a majority of my working on fixing up Integer and finishing up my Ethics in Computer Science course. There was much less time to relax and unwind this week and any time outside of those two things were spent either sleeping or eating.

What’s in your way?

I need to take a break at some point this week to unwind. I feel mentally exhausted and need to reset in order to keep my performance up in the long term. I need to be careful not to spend too much time doing so, but I also need to make sure that I don’t underdo it and burn out at the last moment later on.

What will you do next week?

This upcoming week, I want to spend a lot of the early week (after I reset) working on the new project. I want to get it out of the way early on and keep focused on my task. Besides that, I don’t think I have anything I want or have to do anything that is outside of the norm. I have more time now that I do not have another class and I can spend that time to make sure I perform even better in this one.

If you read it, what did you think of the Paper #6: Vector?

I have not yet looked at the vector paper and I cannot comment on it as of right now.

What was your experience of containers, container adapters, and allocators?

Exploring the implementation details of these various containers is actually very fun. I’ve been introduced to this topic by Professor Downing in previous lectures, but looking at how to best implement these containers with different underlying data structures is a fun thought exercise when you are asked to do so.

What made you happy this week?

I feel relieved now that I am done with one class this semester. Taking two summer courses has actually been more difficult than I had planned and getting one completed makes me feel like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

I had to design an app’s visual appearance for a mockup in my computer ethics course and figma.com was a very cool tool introduced to me by one of my teammates. It is collaborative so you can have a team work on a project concurrently and it felt intuitive to use as somebody who has zero experience in design.
